Women on the Water Film Screening in Woods Hole
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 3 - 4:30 p.m., join WHOI Sea Grant and the Woods Hole Film Festival for a screening of Women on the Water, a documentary created by New Hampshire Sea Grant about the changing face of the seafood industry. A panel discussion with local fishers will follow. The screening is free and reservations are encouraged.
The 45-minute film highlights women who are reshaping the fishing trade, opening channels for more women to join their fields, and inspiring the next generation.
Women on the Water shares the stories of four women: why they chose their industries, the challenges they've overcome, and why they choose to stay. While the film features women working in New Hampshire, the panel that follows comprises women based on Cape Cod and the Islands. Their stories highlight their journeys and experiences in harvesting sustainable food and creating new markets for local seafood and offers the audience a chance to engage with and ask questions of women who make their living in the seafood industry.
Panelists will include:
- Moderator: Rachel Hutchinson, WHOI Sea Grant and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension
- Emma Green Beach – Director of the MV Shellfish Group
- Jenny Ross – Cataumet Fish and Sea State Foods
- Amy Croteau - Town of Barnstable Shellfish Constable
- Deb Hill - By the Bay Shellfish, Barnstable Harbor
Members of Cape Cod’s blue economy will be in Redfield Lobby with displays and more information for those who want to know more.
