2023 Nantucket Conference at the Atheneum

Sophia Ly at the UN Headquarters in New York in NYC during the 23rd meeting of the United Nations Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea (ICP). The meeting, held June 5-8, 2023, coincided with UN World Oceans Day.

This photo was taken inside a pop-up blind looking at my Roseate Tern methodology testing plot on Bird Island. Roseate Terns are more timid than Common Terns, so they nest in the wooden boxes seen here. I record what prey is brought to their chicks from my location inside the blind, and two different trail camera set-ups captured images simultaneously. This semester I’ll determine the different capabilities of each method!
