This photo was taken inside a pop-up blind looking at my Roseate Tern methodology testing plot on Bird Island. Roseate Terns are more timid than Common Terns, so they nest in the wooden boxes seen here. I record what prey is brought to their chicks from my location inside the blind, and two different trail camera set-ups captured images simultaneously. This semester I’ll determine the different capabilities of each method!

One of my Common Tern trail camera monitoring plots on Ram Island. The trail cameras were set up to observe and take photos of adult Common Terns bringing in prey to their chicks. The fencing is set up to keep the mobile chicks from running away during productivity checks and into another adult’s territory.
