WHOI Sea Grant Extension Working with Young Changemakers

On April 27th, WHOI Sea Grant Coastal Resilience Specialist Shelly McComb spoke at the Youth Climate Action Summit, an event organized by Mass Audubon, in Sandwich, MA about climate change to interested high school students from around southeastern Massachusetts. Her presentation dove into causes of climate change, how it will affect life in the northeast, and adaptation measures the students can implement in their lives.

Shelly encouraged the students to be citizen scientists in shoreline monitoring and to also speak up to leaders in their community. The Youth Climate Action Program is led by Mass Audubon to connect youth changemakers with experts and mentors to guide them in planning and implementing innovative climate action in local schools and communities. Shelly can't wait to present again next year!
