2025 Knauss Fellowship Finalists
WHOI Sea Grant is proud to sponsor three successful Knauss Fellowship finalists. The finalists will begin their fellowship placements in 2025.
James Elekwachi
James Elekwachi is a student in the School for the Environment at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, working with Professor Georgia Mavrommati and Professor Michael Tlusty. His research focuses on consumer acceptance of cultivated meat and seafood. He anticipates receiving his Master of Science degree in September 2024.
Lina Taenzer
Taenzer recently received her PhD in Marine Chemistry & Geochemistry from the MIT/WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography. Her doctoral research, supervised by Dr. Colleen Hansel and Dr. Scott Wankel, focused on the study of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the context of marine ecosystem health.
Katie Sperry
Katie Sperry is a PhD candidate in Northeastern University's department of Marine and Environmental Science, where she is advised by Dr. Randall Hughes. Her interdisciplinary research explores ways to improve coastal habitat restoration.
