Hurricane Observations: On the ground and in the eye

October 6, 2021

Sean Waugh, NOAA’s National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman, OK

Hurricanes impact people all over the world, and not just along the coastlines! The NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory takes you inside the research behind a landfalling hurricane to better understand these complex storms and all of the hazards it causes. NOAA NSSL’s mission is to help improve our understanding of these hazards and help the NOAA National Weather Service better predict them. Go in-depth with a severe storm scientist and learn about the instruments used to safely observe hurricanes and what it’s like to be inside one. Get your questions answered on what it takes to study hurricanes!
