Boat Shrink Wrap Recycling Program

Recycling Resources and Information for Boatyards and Haulers

Shrink wrap recycling is possible—but only if businesses take steps to keep it clean, collect it separately, and work with the right partners. We’ve made that last part easy by finding a reputable recycler.

Are you a business in southeastern Massachusetts interested in recycling shrink wrap?

Recycling shrink wrap in the past might have been challenging, but it’s really pretty simple.

Follow these steps:

  1. Have your waste hauler create an account with Republic Services Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Brockton
  2. Have your waste hauler provide you with a container dedicated to shrink wrap only
  3. Deposit all the used boat shrink wrap into the container.
  4. Educate your staff on how to remove wrap and keep contaminants out of the container.
  5. Let your hauler know when the container is full and/or you’ve completed removing wrap for the season, so they can take it to the MRF in Brockton

For more information, see the FAQs below.

You will need a container dedicated to shrink wrap so it can be recycled. Boatyards typically get these from their waste hauler.  The wrap must be kept separate from other waste and even other types of plastic. This is not single-stream recycling. Just shrink wrap. That's it.

You will need a waste hauler with an account with Republic Services MRF in Brockton.
